Yagyopavit or Janeu Dharan Sanskar

Yajnopavita, commonly known to us as Janeu. This is not just a simple thread, but there are many special beliefs associated with it in Hinduism. It is mentioned in the Puranic texts that the ascetics, the Sapta Rishis, and the gods have said that Yagyopavit is the power of Brahmins. This ornament of Brahmins is not made of gold or pearls, nor is it made of pearls. The debt of the deities, rishis, and ancestors is repaid through this sacred Yagyopavit made of ordinary thread. Jyotishacharya Anish Vyas told that one of the various sacraments in the Hindu religion is to wear Yagyopavit. The programs of Yagyopavit or Upanayana ceremony are organized on a very large scale because after wearing it, one gets pure character along with power and he becomes imbued with the sense of devotion to duty. The auspicious time is also seen for organizing the Yagyopavit ceremony, Yagyopavit is the most sacred, Prajapati God has made it easy for everyone. It is life-enhancing, invigorating, liberating, and purifying. It also gives strength and speed. The supreme three goals of this Yajnopaveet are – the desire for truthful conduct, the brilliance like fire, and the purity of the divine qualities are well attained by this. In today’s era, it is often seen that at the behest of the parents, the youth get the sacrificial ceremony done, but if they do not wear it or wear it, then they do not follow the rules regarding wearing it. It should be kept in mind that if your sacrificial ceremony has been performed, then always wear it and tie a knot in the crest, without the crest, and without the sacrificial rite, those religious deeds, become fruitless. If there is no Yagyopavit, the dvija should not even drink water. When the Upanayana ceremony of the children is done, only then should the study of it be started according to the orders of the scriptures. These three Brahmins, Kshatriyas, and Vaishyas are called dvijas because by wearing Yagyopavit they are born again. The first birth takes place from the mother’s stomach; the second birth takes place through the sacrificial rites. It has been said in religious texts that the Vedarambha which is done while wearing the Yagyopavit, is done with the Gayatri Mantra. Knowing Gayatri Mantra to every Dwij is as essential as wearing Yagyopavit. The pair of Gayatri Yagyopavit is similar to that of Lakshmi-Narayan, Sita-Ram, Radhe-Shyam, Prakriti-Brahma, Gauri-Shankar, male-female. The combination of both makes a complete unit.

1. Janam Sutak, Death Sutak, while discarding excreta and urine, in atonement for the mistake in offering Yagyopavit on the ear, after doing four months old, if it is broken from somewhere, the thread should be removed.

2. When unloading, it should not be thrown where it should but should be immersed in a holy place like a river, pond, or a holy tree-like Peepal.

3. It should be worn on the left shoulder in such a way that the left does not face towards the side. The length should be such that when the arm is lengthened, its length sits equally.
